This is an old gospel tune that originally came out of the Beautitudes in the Christian bible.
“You are the light of the world- like a city on a mountain, glowing in the night for all to see. Don’t hide your light under a basket! Instead, put it on a stand and let it shine for all.”

This song was a powerful tool for workers in the Civil rights movement like Fannie Lou Hamer

Do you ever have times when you want to be completely at peace and know you should yet your still uneasy and feel like you might just threw up b/c what you are about to do is so intimidating to you. Who knew a country girl like me would flying all over the nation like this-in the middle of the night no less. I have to go to Houston TX to get Baltimore MD-this is really something I never would have ever even dreamed I'd ever do. I am so afraid to do this, you have no idea the amount of distress I am in right now. If you do something so scary to you, does it still count as faith and courage to God? If only I could never ever feel fear at all, what a relief that would be. I am trying to stay calm and know God will be with me on this airplane and in Houston and on the second airplane.

O for grace to trust Him more
This old song was written in 1882 by Louisa Stead and William Kirkpatrick. It has been said that Stead wrote the lyrics after her husband drowned. Out of grief and sorrow came lyrics that inspire.
I have learned that God calls us to know Him and then to obey Him. God knows that it is quintessential that we trust Him in order to do His will. This perhaps is why he doesn’t “lay the plan out” or “put in writing” the exact steps of our lives. If we knew all of the plans He had for us – we wouldn’t have to exercise trust. Rather, He wants us to trust Him so that we can know Him and obey Him. As the first verse says; it is so wonderful to rest upon His promise.
Stead also included another key component of doing God’s will and that is to remove sin and self. When we actively pursue this removal we have less that separates us from God. Consequently, we are closer to Him and our relationship with Jesus grows deeper.
O Lord – I cry out to You for the sake of Your Bride – Please pour down Your grace so that we can trust you more. For we long to know You – we long to rest in Your promise and do Your will. Amen
