I think I like Mother's Day better than my birthday. As I've grown older, my focus is not on me, but others.

I love other's stories of joy of their children and what it's like to be a Mother.

However, I'm reminded of the great blessing of being a Mother.

Today, our Pastor eloquantly spoke of the tremendous blessing it is to be a Mother, and at the same time what a great responsibility it is to be one.

His humorous 'aside' was to tell a story of how there should be a "Survivor TV Show" with a version starring DADS.
I can't find a script online, but here's about how it goes:

The cast would be made of up Dads and 2 to 4 kids each.
    Mom is not there.
They would be given one minivan to transport the kids.
Each child is involved in 2 sports and music and dance lessons.
It's up to each Dad to transport all kids to and from each activity.
He does not have access to fast food.
He must wear makeup every day and shave his legs.
He must attend all PTA meetings, school functions, doctor appts, at all hours of the day and evening & keep everyone on schedule!
He must keep the house clean and tend to sick kids even at 3 in the morning.
The kids get to vote who does a good job and who gets to stay and who gets to go
Whichever Dad is the winner in the end, gets to go back to his job!

I wouldn't trade places with anyone, of course, unless I had to, but my kids (and husband) are a priceless blessing to me everyday!

I'm thankful to my own Mother for how she and my Dad raised me and the examples they still are to me (after 63 years of marriage), and an older sister who loves and nurtures her own family.

Have a wonderful Mother's Day everyone, I hope you have too many blessings to count!

Life as Kim and Krickitt Carpenter knew it was shattered beyond recognition on November 24, 1993. Two months after their marriage, a devastating car wreck left Krickitt with a massive head injury and in a coma for weeks.

When she finally awoke, she had no idea who Kim was. With no recollection of their relationship and while Krickitt experienced personality changes common to those who suffer head injuries, Kim realized the woman he had married essentially died in the accident.

And yet, against all odds, but through the common faith in Christ that sustained them, Kim and Krickitt fell in love all over again. Even though Kim stood by Krickitt through the darkest times a husband can ever imagine, he insists, “I’m no hero. I made a vow.”

Now available in trade paper with a new chapter and photo insert, The Vow is the true story that inspired the major motion picture of the same name starring Rachel McAdams (The Notebook), Channing Tatum (Dear John), Sam Neill (Jurassic Park), and Academy Award winner Jessica Lange.

Is there one way to God, or many different ways?

At my church, we aren't exploring this question, but rather, busting this myth! The 3-week sermon title is "MYTHBUSTERS". I'm going to post a link to a video that was played the 1st Sunday of the series, and the team of people who made the video went to Washington DC and asked people on the street "Is there one way to God, or many different ways?"

    http://www.sermonspice.com/product/4902/one-way

What an eye-opening video! It shows how political correctness may have just blanketed many minds into thinking "it's all good."

Our particular series, (at our "Bible believing", protestant church) is educating us on the belief system of Buddhism, Islam and Hinduism. 20 years ago, this may not have been of concern, but we are living in a world where it is very common for people of many 'religions' live side by side in the same communities, on the same street and right next door. I think God calls us to respect each other and love each other, but as the song taught me when I was a child "One way God said to get to heaven, Jesus is the Only Way".

What are your thoughts? (Please be respectful with your comments, thanks!) Do you have any verses in the bible that you know of that teach us how to respectfully disagree and present our faith when faced with someone who believes there are many different ways to God?
