A great story and a beautifully illustrated book, new from Max Lucado. I\'ve always loved the books he writes for adults and my favorite is \"The Applause of Heaven.\" Now that I have children, I love the books that Max Lucado does for children. This book is as compelling as any princess story we read as children, and the ones we read today. My 7 year old loves the book and wanted to know if there are more stories like this one. The pictures are wonderful. The Lowlanders are mysterious and intriguing, but not too frightening for my girls. My 9 year old son enjoyed the story too. I highly recommend this book from a beloved Christian Author, who continually presents quality family reading material. Carla, ChristianMom ChristianMom.com

This is a wonderful book filled with humorous insights into parenting from a Father\'s perspective. Although it\'s written this way - it is a delight for both Dads AND Moms to read. The author knows the value of Mom AND Dad. The book is great to pick up and read a chapter at a time - but I bet you can\'t put it down after just one! Aside from fervent prayer, nothing gets me through my day as a Mom more gracefully than facing it with some humor and this book has just that! It\'s given me endless laughs along with biblical insights to my sometimes not-so-glamourous life as a Mom, and the preciousness of it all at the same time.

This is a very sweet book that teaches children how they can pray and shows them what different Bible Heroes prayed. It tells them that Praying is talking to God and you can do it out loud, or silently in your head. The illustrations by Hallie Gillett are wonderful and show the emotion of the characters and children. This book is geared towards ages 5 and up. This is a great book for inquisitive young ones who are learning about the relationship they can have with Jesus when they talk with him through prayer.

A childen\'s large board book focusing just on stories from the bible that involved fire. An interesting approach to a children\'s book - but at the same time, a lesson that shows just how God uses different ways to communicate his message to people in the bible and us. Children enjoy the shiny places in the book where the fire is part of the picture. The stories are not too long for the little ones to sit and listen to.

Great board book for children with easy to read bible story on each page. Each page has a question asking you about something in the story/pictures, and then there is something special about the animal, for example, the donkey\'s bristly hair, which is fuzzy and children can touch!

What a great book, and at a perfect time for me, and Mother\'s with kids my son\'s age. We hear \"all my friends have a GAMEBOY, all my friends have an X-Box or a Playstation 2...\" After many speeches about WHY we didn\'t have those games in our house, my husband decided it would be fun to have a Playstation 2!\" Right now in our lives, we *can* control when he uses it and how often, and what games he plays. But what does the future hold for these decisions? Matt\'s Fantastic Electronic Compusonic is a book that shows both kids and parents what can happen when a child becomes so interested in a toy (game, collecting cards) that it gets in the way of everything else. When reading this book, I found myself really hoping and praying this would NOT be MY son some day - I had already seen examples of that with other things with all three of my children. Although many games and toys and collections can be fun and educational and rewarding, God wants our first and last thought of the day, He wants our excitement to be directed at learning more about Him and He wants our desires to include spending time in His word getting to know Him. I always get the Upper Room devotional, and this is more applicable for me as a Mom. They are stories you can relate to and share with friends. I think it could even work well for a ladies group to read together and discuss.

This is the classic book made into an animated movie. I understand why they wanted to animate it instead of using real people - kind of... The reasoning used to be, well they can\'t do all the things with people that they can do with cartoons. Well - you know, they probably can. So they took Tom Hanks and made him into an animated character. A few reviews I read BEFORE I went to see it made me think - YIKES! Some said all you needed were a few monsters, and it would be like \"night of the living dead\" - Think about all those Barbie movies/DVDs, and how wierd their eyes look. That\'s what the Polar Express is all about. Woe. Maybe it\'s because it was in my mind the whole time, but it does wear on you after a while. Plus you KNOW Tom Hanks familiar voice, and you look and it LOOKS like him, but it\'s this creepy animated character. There were parts of the film where it is wonderful, what they can do with the animation and combining that with some of the wonderful music. There are other parts you wish they would have left out. Again, all I\'ll say is Aerosmith. If you \'ve seen it, you\'ll know what I mean. If not, when you do you\'ll understand. I have nothing against them, it was just not necessary in my opinion. This was a fun one to see IN the theater. But it will be great when it is released on video/DVD also.
