  1. I love it. It has a cool hook to it and real truths.
  2. Awww, (notice how all our first reactions are "Awww"?) that is so sweet. I have two boys myself and those times are rare since they are growing up so now and wish I could see more of those. God is good.
  3. Oh, I am just now seeing this too, Secondchance. Thanks for welcoming me and I hope to enjoy this site too. So, how old are your boys?
  4. Well, that is a good point to an extent. Who do you really want your kids learning from. I found that when my boys were in public school for the first 2 years, they learned all the wrong stuff and I spent most of my time teaching the opposite. There are a ton of groups around here but mine are more involved with friends at church. Also, we do a Co-op every Thursday where they learn science and history and they enjoy the kids there. Sounds like your DH is more worried about socialization. People are finding that is a funny joke. What type of socialization do we really want our kids to get? Here is one interesting definition of socialization. From---American Heritage Dictionary - 1. To place under government or group ownership or control. That one bothered me. From---American Heritage Stedman's Medical Dictionary socialization so·cial·i·za·tion (sō'shə-lĭ-zā'shən) n. The process of learning interpersonal and interactional skills that are in conformity with the values of one's society.Remember, the Bible tells us NOT to conform to the ways of this world. From--American Heritage New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy, Third Edition socialization Learning the customs, attitudes, and values of a social group, community, or culture. Socialization is essential for the development of individuals who can participate and function within their societies, as well as for ensuring that a society's cultural features will be carried on through new generations. Socialization is most strongly enforced by family, school, and peer groups and continues throughout an individual's lifetime. (See also acculturation.)Notice how it says family first as who enforces learning this. I like that. Schools do not allow for that though. They force our kids to learn things we don't want them to learn. I know there may be some public school teachers on here and this is not in any way directed towards them. It is mainly from my personal experience and what other teachers have told me of what is going on. Christian teachers I know don't even like half of what goes on. I fully understand that it isn't the teachers. It is our school system and government changes. I say all that to say, I want my kids to learn from our family, God, church friends, and in that learn how to get along and communicate with people of many different ages.
  5. Yep, I would say that about you too. I do homeschool. I have been for 4 years now. We love it. It is good for my youngest sons delays, oldest son being ahead in the game, our family and our life schedule.
  6. So, are there any homeschooling moms here?
  7. Thank you all for the welcome here. I hope it is a great environment for me. I will tell my friend about it if it truely is an awesome group. We have been a part of things before that we had to leave because there was so much drama but I can tell so far that things don't get carried out of hand and stuff.
  8. I guess I sort of think this is a good idea. But, what happened to us having a relationship with our Father. Why can't we pray speaking to him expressing our love and thankfulness to him from our heart? I thinki it is good at times to repeat the great Psalms but what about just talking to him and asking for our forgiveness and praying for needs of others and us?
  9. Wow, that is so awesome. I teared as I was reading that. I thought I was the only one in this world with an awesome husband who said things like that. I feel a little tinge of jealousy every now and then when I see or hear things that are hard for me and he affirms me in ways sort of like what your DH did. Also, I work with the jr. high girls in my church and we will be planning a retreat for all the girls and I have actually been looking for things. I really like the Pure Freedom one. Here are two links for things. I hope you are able to follow that leading. http://purefreedom.org http://www.virtuousreality.com

  13. Notice how he says it in NIV "who can find". I feel like he is saying that sarcastically and meaning "Noone". I think he is listing the perfect qualities in all the godly women he knew and gave us a guideline of things to make us more of a noble wife and mother. Would be great if we could do all of these, but frankly, some aren't even needed anymore. Sewing, we don't need to do it anymore. If you have selected a field and bought it and done well with money, you really don't need to be sewing or cooking everything, you will have the means to buy it. I know I would love to say that I could do all of this, but that is not what God has called me to do or be. He wants us to share Him with others and live for him. If we do that to the best of what we are able to do, He sees that and we can know that.
  14. I know that the one time profession of asking Jesus to save me and the Holy Spirit to live in me is what seals it for me. I have to remind youth of that all the time. I will not always have good days. I will not always feel like the Holy Spirit is with me but I can know it. I can keep that in mind so when failures, trials, and my sinful ways get in my life I am reminded I am that same Mindy that Jesus died for and I am secure in Him.
