  1. Happy Birthday!

  2. Unfortunately I've been working too much! I'm really burned out at my job. My husband got laid off in October and hasn't been able to find anything else, though, so my job is a "blessing" right now (At least that's what I keep telling myself. LOL). I've been here for 13 years and have always liked my job, for the most part. Ever since Bryson was born, though, I have wanted to be at home. I still feel a physical ACHE every morning when I have to leave him. I've been praying about this and asking God to help me either find something to do from home (legitimate) OR that He would make me content at my job again. Until my husband can find another job, I can't do anything about my job situation....so we're sort of at a standstill and waiting on God to show us what to do. I'll admit that I'm starting to get pretty discouraged but I'm trying to hang in there. God knows our needs.....God knows our desires....and I know He'll work everything out somehow!
  3. Tally, I may contact you about this. I've been wanting to find something to do from home in order to be at home with our 10 month old son. I HATE leaving him every day to come to work, so I've really been praying that God would show me away to make income from home. Unfortunately, my husband has been laid off since October, so I won't be able to make any changes until he gets something permanent again, but I'd like to have some options in mind whenever he does get another job (And we are believing God has a job for him SOMEWHERE!). Like I said,I may contact you. Unfortunately, I've seen a lot of scams online. I'm not really interested in doing parties or direct selling (aka Mary Kay, Avon, Pampered Chef, etc)....or being part of pyramid groups....so it makes it difficult to find something legitimate to do from home. It's unbelievable how many scams there are out there. I'm praying about it, so we'll see what happens.
  4. Hey everyone! I've been gone for awhile but am going to try to get more involved again. (I need some contact with other Christian parents:) ). I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you! Hope you have a great week. It's ALMOST FRIDAY!! LOL.
  5. I guess it's different for everyone. Not everyone likes the thought of taking hormones....but I prefer taking bc pills over anything else. Some people have convictions against it and others don't, so I guess everyone has to just find what works for them. Had I not been on them for several years after my surgery for endometriosis, I probably wouldn't have been able to get pregnant and have my son because they helped stop the endo from coming back (Endometriosis can cause infertility...and mine was pretty bad). So, I guess we just find what works for us and go with that. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
  6. I've seen these things at Babies R Us, so I guess I need to pick one out and see how he likes it. Thanks for hte reminder. Last night was kinda rough, DH and I were up 4-5 times to take care of him. He would wake up and cry a little, so we'd go in and just sort of "shush" him back to sleep. It would only take a couple of minutes, but it still made for a long night....I'm dragging today.
  7. It's hard to fit in a workout when you work during the day & have things to do at home in the evenings. I am NOT a morning person, but I have started getting up 30-40 minutes earlier than normal to get on the treadmill or do a quick DVD workout before I have to get ready for work. I tried fitting a workout in the evenings, but that just wasn't working for me. By the time I got home from work, made dinner, took care of Bryson and spent some time with my hubby, it was time for bed and I was too tired to work out. Doing it in the morning seems to work better. I also try to take the stairs at work whenever I can. I work on the third floor, so I have about 64 steps from the bottom floor up to my floor. If I do that 2-3 times a day, I feel good! I also don't park too close when I drive somewhere. I try to park out a little way so I can walk some more. Little things like this really add up by the end of the day! (Plus, carrying around my 6 month old and playing with him in the evenings is giving my arms a good workout because he's getting heavier all the time! )
  8. I've always been on the pill. When we wanted to have a baby, I went off of the pill & got pregnant within 5 months. Our son is 6 mos. old now and I've just started taking the pill again. I like it....It's the easiest for me, but I know everyone is different. (I also need to take it because I've had endometriosis in the past. After surgery, staying on the pill has helped keep the endo under control so I really don't have any problems with it anymore. It didn't even interfere with me getting pregnant. That was an answer to prayer!)
  9. P.S. Momofateen, I'd be willing to have some accountability in my workouts if anyone else wants to join. I'm determined to be back in shape by swimsuit season! I want to lose 10-15 pounds in the next 3-4 months which should be do-able! Is anyone else going to join?
  10. Jamesmommy, I just got a Bender Ball and I love it, so far. I've only had it for a week or so, so it's still too soon to be seeing any results, but it is REALLY helping me work my abs! With the bender ball, you have a better range of motion and you can actually see results with less repetitions than doing standard crunches. I like the workout a lot. My hubby ordered it online for like $12 or so and it comes with a DVD to show you some exercises to do with the ball. (There is also a bun & thigh workout on there that is awesome). Its not too expensive, so it was definitely worth a try for me! Good luck!!
  11. I think we've definitely entered the teething phase!! When I got home from work last night, my DH said that Bryson hadn't been himself all day....He was unusually whiny and just didn't seem to feel well (In case you're wondering, my DH has been laid off since October so he's at home every day with our son ). Anyway, I knew something was up because he didn't even smile at me when I came home....and he always has a big smile for Momma when I come home from work. I still don't feel any teeth that are really starting to come through, but I think he's starting. He was fussy and restless all night and just didn't act like he felt well. I'll keep you posted over the next few days to see what happens. This will be his first tooth, so I hope it's not too bad.
  12. My son hasn't started teething yet (He just turned 6 mos. old), but I think it could happen any day. He's starting to get fussier at night which is unusual. I'm trying to keep an eye on his gums to see if they look red or swollen, but haven't noticed anything abnormal so far. We're ready though (at least I think so!): I have some Tylenol, Teething Tablets, and a couple of teething rings in the refrigerator for when the time comes! Hopefully it won't be too bad, but I've already told DH to get ready for some restless/sleepless nights because it should happen any time. Good luck with little James!
  13. Gosh, He has answered SO many prayers for me, it's hard to know where to begin! I guess some of the biggest answers to prayer would be when He sent my husband into my life. We met when I was 32 and he was 37....Married 10 months later in May 2006....and then had a baby in July 2008. I was beginning to wonder if I would EVER meet someone and get married. I had always wanted to be a wife and Mom but it just wasn't happening. When I finally surrendered and said, "Okay, God. If you want me to be single, help me to be content with that." .....it wasn't long until I met my husband. Amazing how that happens when we just surrender ourselves to God! God taught me SO MUCH about prayer during a season when I was praying for a dear friend who was struggling with some MAJOR life issues. Some of you may know him as he is a well known Christian/Gospel singer. I had such a burden for him during this time in his life....Unlike anything I have ever felt before.....and I was interceding for him on a daily basis along with a couple of other friends. It took a lot of prayers, fasting, and crying out to God, but we eventually saw a miracle in his life. God has TOTALLY restored him, given him an awesome testimony of God's grace and restoration power. It amazes me when I look back on it now because there were times I wondered if God was hearing our prayers on his behalf. Now, it was ALL worth it because I see the people who are being brought to God because of this man's testimony. I could go on and on about answered prayers in my life....but suffice to say, GOD IS GOOD! ALL THE TIME!! Right now, we're praying for a job for my husband who has been laid off since October. God is supplying all of our needs, though. I fully believe that He has a job out there somewhere. We just have to be diligent until it comes along. This is a great topic, by the way. Hope we see some more posts on here. Have a great day! Blessings! Tonya
  14. Christina, Welcome! I loved your post.....Like a ray of sunshine! Just wanted to say "hi" and tell you I'll add you as a "buddy". I am also new to this board so I'm hoping to meet some new friends. My hubby and I have been married since May 2006 and we just had a baby in July (a boy! He is the joy of our lives!!). We got started much later than you.....We were 33 and 38 when we got married! EVERYTHING happens in God's perfect timing, though. There were times when I wondered if it would ever happen for me. Then God sent my husband into my life and things have been great ever since. Dont' get me wrong: I think there are always adjustments to make when you marry someone. I mean, you're both learning to live with each other and that's not as easy as it sounds all the time. However, we have made a pact with each other to never "stay mad" or keep things inside. If something is bothering one of us, we talk it out. So far that has worked like a charm! I would also suggest a great book by Stormie Omartian called "The Power of a Praying Wife". There are some AWESOME prayers in there that you can pray over your husband....your marriage....and even a prayer to ask God to make you into the wife your husband needs. I love it and reference it often. Guess I'll go for now. Hope you have a wonderful day. I look forward to talking to you more! Blessings, Tonya
  15. Sherry, So sorry to hear you're having such a rough time. When things seem to pile up on us, it's easy to wonder why God is allowing us to go through so much at once. However, He has promised to give us strength to face whatever we come up against! I know it's easier said than done...but just keep praying for strength every day. You certainly have a lot on your shoulders so my heart goes out to you and I will definitely lift you up in prayer. God put a scripture on my heart for you today: Matthew 11:28-29 Come to me, you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your soul. Hope things get better soon! Blessings, Tonya
