  1. What about a new calendar? I know it sounds kind of funny but I am hoping that I get one. There are so many beautiful ones out right now that I have looked at.
  2. Thank you both so much! Thank you so much for your prayers. Things went pretty well. Really I am just still kind of indifferent at the moment. I don't want to get my hopes up too much. But I truly want a relationship to develop. I am just afraid that maybe it was a one time thing. I will continue to pray about it and just let God's will happen. My husband did do most of the talking but it wasn't about any of the issues that would cause strife and such. Just mainly about the kids and work and small talk. I just wanted to say thankyou again. It really means a lot to mean that you remembered me and said a prayer. God answered them and everything went smoothly. I just hope that the healing process will begin and we can start to form a relationship. Thanks again.
  3. I just wanted to share a bit of news and ask for prayer for me tonight. I know it's kind of late but if anyone reads this before 5 or even after just maybe say a little prayer that I will know what to say tonight. The occasion? : Well my biological father called the other night and said he would like to come and see me and my children tonight at about 5. The thing is that we have not had any type of relationship since he and my mom divorced when I was 3. I am now almost 27 years old so it has been a good 24 years since we have communicated. Needless to say I was pretty shocked and dumbfounded and really I still am. I am not really nervous because my husband will be here and he is a good talker, sometimes too good. Me, I am sort of the quiet type and am better at writing than actually speaking. Anyways, I have been praying about him for quite a while now and God has answered my prayers. My whole life it has been a one-sided story and now to realize that I might find out the other half is really kind of scary. I want things to work out between us and I would love for a relationship to develop, so if you could just say a tiny prayer for me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
  4. I know personally that it can be so hard when you feel bad about yourself and your appearance. For me I just needed to remember that God loved me no matter what and that if I wanted to change myself than I would just have to do it, but not alone. I prayed daily for the motivation, willpower, and determination that it takes to lose weight. I am now proud to say that I have lost 45 pounds since June 28 and am into the maintaining part of it. I don't like to say that I am dieting because I don't consider it a diet. It is now a lifestyle for me. I did it the low-carb way and I know that it might not be the way for everyone but it definitely was for me. For anyone wanting to shed a few pounds I highly recommend it. Though the first two weeks can be hard, the results are such a wonderful feeling. I lost 13 pounds the first two weeks and since then I have been hooked ever since. After those first two weeks it gets so much easier and there really is a lot of food you can eat. Many people think you are so restricted but it's not true. I have come up with many easy recipes on my own. I thank God. I feel so much better about myself and it is so nice to actually like the clothes I am wearing. One of my very best friends just had a baby in October and was ready to lose some weight so I talked to her and shared just about everything I did and how I did it. She started last Sunday and have already lost 8 pounds. It's true exercise and eating less can help to lose weight but some people need a jumpstart like I did and my friend. If anyone has any questions please feel free to email me. I love sharing my journey these last 5 and a half months. So many people have asked me how I have done it I feel like I could be a spokesperson, but I am happy to help in anyway. Just remember to pray daily and You can do it. And eating low-carb is a lifestyle, NOT A DIET!
  5. Boy, I feel really bad now. I haven't even begun. Things have been really tight here lately; though I am hoping to be able to squeeze a little out this week. It's looking like I will be doing my shopping at the Dollar Store.
  6. I think the parable of the lost son (Luke 15:11-32) and his loving father is also something good to read for this question. Verse 32 says ... But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. I love that last part; he was lost and is found. Romans 8:29-30 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. We don't know God's plan but He does. James 5:16 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. I think now that we should be praying for Scott that he may open up his heart and realize the truth and repent and confess of his sins and accept Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. 2 Timothy 2:11-13 11 Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him; 12 If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us; 13 If we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself.
  7. I am not real sure about her family but I don't think she knew the TRUTH and the WAY. She was only 21 and has a 6 yr. old daughter. It is believed at the moment that she did it because of a boy. They had been off and on for a while now and I guess she did it in her car in front of his house. It is just a sad situation. Thank you for the prayers. My sister was still pretty upset last night and I didn't get to talk to her much. She has been through some difficult times for as young as she is as well. She too is 21 and lost her daughter at 8 months about a year and a half ago and now one of her best friends for about 9 years.
  8. HELLO AGAIN!!! It has been a long time since I have posted on here like a little over 2 months. I have just become so busy with going back to school and such. Today I was on the computer checking my email and it just hit me all of a sudden to get back on Christian Mom and get involved again. It really helped me alot this summer being on here and chatting with other Christian Mothers. Hope everyone has been doing well and hope to chat with you all more. Oh and one more thing, I have a prayer request too. Last night on Thanksgiving one of my sister's best friends shot and killed herself so if you could just remember her family and my sister it would be nice.
  9. As for myself I have never heard anyone speaking in tongues. But I know what the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 14. A few verses that I think should be looked at .. 6 Now, brothers, if I come to you and speak in tongues, what good will I be to you, unless I gring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or word of instruction? 7 Even in the case of lifeless things that make sounds, such as the flute or harp, how will anyone know what tune is being played unless there is a distinction in the notes? 8 Again, if the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle? 9 So it is with you. Unless you speak intelligible words with your tongue, how will anyone know what you are saying? You will just be speaking into the air. 19 But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue. 22 Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is for believers, not for unbelievers. 23 So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and some who do not understand or some unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind? 24 But if an unbeliever or someone who does not understand comes in while verybody is prophesying, he will be convinced by all that he is a sinner and will be judged by all, 25 and the secrets of his heart will be laid bare. So he will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, "God is really among you!" 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, two-or at the most three-should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. 28 If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and God. 33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the congregations of the saints, 34 women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in tthe church. 39 Therefore, my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. 40 But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.

    The Four Seasons

Falls in Ohio are beautiful and just awesome to see the powers of God. I keep forgetting though that most are you are not from this area and probably don't experience the fall that we Ohioans and closeby do. Thank you for the recipe. I will have to try it for my husband and children. There is also something about this time of year that I just love to burn candles. Especially the fall smelling scents. Ummmm....I have one right now that is Maple sugar and oh boy does it smell good. I think I will go light it...... :D
  12. I am not sure how many ladies will respond to this question. Many of the ladies know me on here and know that I attend Church of Christ so I am not afraid to say that but this sort of question could cause some tension, maybe, maybe not. I hope not. Yes, I (we, my family) attend church weekly and are involved in many church functions and activities. We do usually attend the same church because of this. My husband teaches a Sunday-school class and will be teaching a Sunday evening class this fall so we have responsibilities there. Every once in a while we visit a church that we used to attend where all of my husband's family still attends. 1 Corinthians 12:12 12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.
  13. Hi Kristy, congrats on losing 30 pounds. This was a strong forum for awhile. I am not sure what happened but anyways. I have been basically doing the Atkins diet except I still haven't went above the 20 carbs yet. It has been 2 months and 8 days and I have lost about 33 pounds. I went from a 14/16 down to a 9/10 and I just feel so much better. I did hit a plateau to for about 2 weeks but I just stayed with it and this last week I must have dropped a few more pounds cause I can get myself into a 9 now and that wasn't happening before. I have also heard good things about WeightWatchers and know a girl who has lost weight on it. The low-carb approach is the only thing that has really worked for me though. It has been the easiest "diet" that I have ever been on and this is also the longest I have ever followed anything. I owe it all to God though because I could have never made it this far without him. He has answered my prayers for the willpower and determination to continue on. This is definitly a lifelong change. Lord-willing I will never go back to my old eating habits. Good Luck and we'll have to keep each other updated. It seems all the other ladies haven't been on here in a while. God Bless!!
