  1. a mommy's point of view http://itsalmostnaptime.blogspot.com/2007/12/great-expectations.html
  2. It sounds like you may have the answer. I think it would be good to do that and see if it helps. It may be simply having to go to the bathroom at night.
  3. I am not sure if what your son is having is night terrors or not. You can ask your pediatritian and he may be able to help you find out. My son had night terrors and it was usually set off by not getting to bed early enough or having caffeine - in the form of chocolate - usually chocolate milk. We cut out all chocolate after noon and limited chocolate to a minimum. We also worked hard to get him to bed on time. His night terrors were usually an hour and a half or so after falling asleep.
  4. no more fever! thank you for your prayers! with the right anti-biotic, my daughter no longer has a fever! Our heater got fixed and it is cold and we are warm. The Lord is wonderful!
  5. I took my daughter and got a chest x-ray this morning and she has pneumonia. I wish we would have found this out last week so she could have been treated properly for it. I hope my son does not wind up with pneumonia too. The heater repair man is supposed to be here this afternoon.
  6. Thank you, luckily the weather has warmed back up and won't be cold again until Wed. and we should get the heater repaired before then. My daughter is still sick - she had 102 last night and woke with a temp. This is now one week that she has run fever. She feels awful and I feel bad that I can't do anything to help. And this morning - my son says he does not feel well. So, my youngest daughter and my husband are at church and I am home with my sick daughter and my son who does not have a temp and I hope he does not get one but he says his head hurts and he is nauseus. He does share my allergies and I was congested last night and woke with a headache so perhaps there is something in the air that is affecting both of us. I hope he is not getting my daughter's virus.
  7. Well, thank you for your prayers, we got the blood test results and my daughter has a virus. It is not mono or strep or pneumonia, but a virus. So, she is to keep taking amoxicillin to prevent a secondary infection and will just get better when it ends. Tonight her temp went back up to 103. I had the heater repair guy out and he got the downstairs heater going but not the upstairs one and he charged a lot of money and I have to have another company come out to look at the upstairs unit tomorrow. The kids sleep upstairs. But heat rises and it won't be as cold tonight so we will see how it goes.
  8. My oldest dd has been running fever since Sunday and I took her to the dr tues and got antibiotic, but I don't think it is working - she had 105 fever on Wed. night and she still has fever and a bad cough. I took her to the dr again this morning and they drew blood to try to find out what is going on. The reg dr is out of town and she saw a sub who I don't trust as much as our regular doc. Our weather had been warm and above normal for weeks and it got cold last night and now the heaters won't kick on and my husband works an hour away and I don't know how to check things and the heater people will try to be here by around 3 pm or so and it is 62 degrees upstairs and it says 67 downstairs but does not feel any warmer and we got a new heat/a/c unit this summer but something stopped working a month or so ago and my husband thinks maybe they turned off the pilot lights when they were working on it then - I don't know, but it is cold and my daughter has fever and is coughing and please pray.
  9. With all the recalls out there, I am proud and glad that I sell Discovery Toys which are stringently tested and guaranteed safe. Here is the Discovery Toys promise to parents: http://www.discoverytoyslink.com/danastoys
  10. Wow! That is excellent! Congratulations! You are doing terrific! I started back with Weight Watchers a month ago and have lost almost two pounds in a month. Must go crawl under a rock now. But, since the beginning of this summer I have lost 10 pounds. And I am short and don't have tons to lose. Which makes it more difficult since it is a percentage type thing and just a few pounds can make a difference in clothing size. I have about 5 more to go and I would be much happier and my old clothes would all fit. I am fitting in some now but not all and the ones I am fitting in still are a bit uncomfortable.
  11. This is about gardasil the vaccine that is recommended for girls before they become sexually active because it may reduce the risk of some sexually transmitted forms of cervical cancer. Here is a quote from the article: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=58004 http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=gardasil+related+deaths

  13. I am glad to hear that you are doing well and at peace in Christ. May the Lord continue to bless you and your family.
  14. My 14 yo dd likes sleep too much to go through all that. She sleeps as long as she can, hops out of bed, throws on clothes, puts her hair in a pony tail and straightens the bangs and can be out the door in 10 min. if necessary.
  15. My dd is 14. She was very curious and asked very detailed questions around age 8. I explained sex in the terms of "when a man and woman are married and want to have a baby..." Then I explained the physical process. She thought it was gross. She still says that she thinks it is gross and that she never wants to do it and will get pg through artificial insemination. I don't know if I did a bad job or a good one. I have tried explaining things better, but I also have some embarassment and I don't want her going out and having sex now so I figure her attitude is ok for now. But, I don't want her to be an adult with that attitude.
