  1. a mommy's point of view http://itsalmostnaptime.blogspot.com/2007/12/great-expectations.html
  2. It sounds like you may have the answer. I think it would be good to do that and see if it helps. It may be simply having to go to the bathroom at night.
  3. I am not sure if what your son is having is night terrors or not. You can ask your pediatritian and he may be able to help you find out. My son had night terrors and it was usually set off by not getting to bed early enough or having caffeine - in the form of chocolate - usually chocolate milk. We cut out all chocolate after noon and limited chocolate to a minimum. We also worked hard to get him to bed on time. His night terrors were usually an hour and a half or so after falling asleep.
  4. no more fever! thank you for your prayers! with the right anti-biotic, my daughter no longer has a fever! Our heater got fixed and it is cold and we are warm. The Lord is wonderful!
  5. I took my daughter and got a chest x-ray this morning and she has pneumonia. I wish we would have found this out last week so she could have been treated properly for it. I hope my son does not wind up with pneumonia too. The heater repair man is supposed to be here this afternoon.
  6. Thank you, luckily the weather has warmed back up and won't be cold again until Wed. and we should get the heater repaired before then. My daughter is still sick - she had 102 last night and woke with a temp. This is now one week that she has run fever. She feels awful and I feel bad that I can't do anything to help. And this morning - my son says he does not feel well. So, my youngest daughter and my husband are at church and I am home with my sick daughter and my son who does not have a temp and I hope he does not get one but he says his head hurts and he is nauseus. He does share my allergies and I was congested last night and woke with a headache so perhaps there is something in the air that is affecting both of us. I hope he is not getting my daughter's virus.
  7. Well, thank you for your prayers, we got the blood test results and my daughter has a virus. It is not mono or strep or pneumonia, but a virus. So, she is to keep taking amoxicillin to prevent a secondary infection and will just get better when it ends. Tonight her temp went back up to 103. I had the heater repair guy out and he got the downstairs heater going but not the upstairs one and he charged a lot of money and I have to have another company come out to look at the upstairs unit tomorrow. The kids sleep upstairs. But heat rises and it won't be as cold tonight so we will see how it goes.
  8. My oldest dd has been running fever since Sunday and I took her to the dr tues and got antibiotic, but I don't think it is working - she had 105 fever on Wed. night and she still has fever and a bad cough. I took her to the dr again this morning and they drew blood to try to find out what is going on. The reg dr is out of town and she saw a sub who I don't trust as much as our regular doc. Our weather had been warm and above normal for weeks and it got cold last night and now the heaters won't kick on and my husband works an hour away and I don't know how to check things and the heater people will try to be here by around 3 pm or so and it is 62 degrees upstairs and it says 67 downstairs but does not feel any warmer and we got a new heat/a/c unit this summer but something stopped working a month or so ago and my husband thinks maybe they turned off the pilot lights when they were working on it then - I don't know, but it is cold and my daughter has fever and is coughing and please pray.
  9. With all the recalls out there, I am proud and glad that I sell Discovery Toys which are stringently tested and guaranteed safe. Here is the Discovery Toys promise to parents: http://www.discoverytoyslink.com/danastoys
  10. Wow! That is excellent! Congratulations! You are doing terrific! I started back with Weight Watchers a month ago and have lost almost two pounds in a month. Must go crawl under a rock now. But, since the beginning of this summer I have lost 10 pounds. And I am short and don't have tons to lose. Which makes it more difficult since it is a percentage type thing and just a few pounds can make a difference in clothing size. I have about 5 more to go and I would be much happier and my old clothes would all fit. I am fitting in some now but not all and the ones I am fitting in still are a bit uncomfortable.
  11. This is about gardasil the vaccine that is recommended for girls before they become sexually active because it may reduce the risk of some sexually transmitted forms of cervical cancer. Here is a quote from the article: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=58004 http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=gardasil+related+deaths

  13. I am glad to hear that you are doing well and at peace in Christ. May the Lord continue to bless you and your family.
  14. My 14 yo dd likes sleep too much to go through all that. She sleeps as long as she can, hops out of bed, throws on clothes, puts her hair in a pony tail and straightens the bangs and can be out the door in 10 min. if necessary.
  15. My dd is 14. She was very curious and asked very detailed questions around age 8. I explained sex in the terms of "when a man and woman are married and want to have a baby..." Then I explained the physical process. She thought it was gross. She still says that she thinks it is gross and that she never wants to do it and will get pg through artificial insemination. I don't know if I did a bad job or a good one. I have tried explaining things better, but I also have some embarassment and I don't want her going out and having sex now so I figure her attitude is ok for now. But, I don't want her to be an adult with that attitude.
  16. With my oldest dd I had to go back to work when she was 7 weeks old and I did not know a thing about pumping - tried a hand pump and got no results, so I just gave formula and then nursed morning and evening. She did have constipation with the regular iron formulas and I used low iron which they said was ok since she was also nursing. My son never took a bottle at all but nursed for 2 years and my youngest dd nursed until 6 months then I started giving 2 oz formula with each solid food feeding and within a month or two she took formula well and stopped nursing at 10 months when I had a stomach virus and my milk dried up.
  17. My three are all in school - the oldest in 8th grade, the middle one in first grade and my baby who is 4 is in preschool 3 days a week.
  18. Our message this week was about the fact that we need to take Christ and Christ alone as our goal. Many other things, even good and scriptural things can be distractions from Christ. We can only be One in Christ Jesus and this oneness in Christ should be our goal.
  19. Nathaniel is 5 years old and has cancer. He has had it and been in and out of hospitals for a little over a year now. Recently they have found several more tumors and he is in a lot of pain. Please pray that the doctors treating him will have wisdom and discernment and will be able to treat him properly. Please pray for his family also. Here is his caringbridge site http://www.caringbridge.org/cb/inputSiteName.do?method=search&siteName=nathanielemily You can visit to see his progress and to sign his guest book.
  20. That sounds fun! There are also a few great CDs from http://www.biblestorysongs.com that my children love.
  21. I love the Recovery Version - it is full of terrific footnotes! You can get a free Recovery Version New Testament from http://www.biblesforamerica.org and then if you love it, you may want to purchase the entire footnoted Recovery Version Holy Bible later.
  22. I helped out with the Jr. High girls. We talked about how the Israelites crossing the red sea is a picture of baptism and that baptism is a burial of the old self so that we are reborn as a new person. We also talked about how Jesus's blood covers our sins just like the lamb blood on the door posts caused the Lord to pass over the Israelites houses so that their firstborn were not killed. And that the passover lamb was killed on a cross to get the blood out to put on the doorposts, also a picture of Jesus as the lamb of God who was killed on a cross so that His blood would save us all.
  23. May the Lord guide you and bless your family and provide you with the best opportunity to stay home with your family. There is a good wahm web site http://www.wahm.com that has message boards that you can ask questions about wahm businesses on. I sell Discovery Toys and it is fun and simple for me. I can do parties and booths during school hours and that sounds like the hours you need. I also teach new mom's classes at a hospital. I was a teacher in public schools too for 13 years. What grade do you teach? I taught middle school. You can look at my web site if you are not familiar with Discovery Toys http://www.discoverytoyslink.com/danastoys In Christ, Dana
  24. This group is currently offering free footnoted study Bibles in the USA and New Zealand - New Testament only. It is a wonderful Bible and an excellent resource and the footnotes are very helpful. It is based largely on the teachings of John Nelson Darby, if you are familiar with him. http://www.biblesforamerica.org
  25. Title: Life and Building Scriptures: John 15:4, 17:21-23, Matt 16:18, 1 Pet 2:4-5, Rev. 21:19 and many others Description: I enjoyed many things about our message this week. One is that the basic and central revelation of the entire Bible is life and building. Life is God Himself and building is the expression of the Triune God as life in a corporate Body. (Rom. 8:2, 6, 10-11; 12:4-5) How did it touch You: One of the hymns that we sang at the Sat. night young people's meeting (I serve with Jr. High girls) starts out with these words: When we sang it I was shocked. I realized that perhaps I have the wrong goals. To me, joy and peace and blessing sound like pretty good things to have as a goal. But, as I sat and listened to the sharing Sunday morning, I realized that our goal as Christians is God Himself. We can have joy and peace without God, but they are fleeting and temproal. It is much better to have God Himself as our peace and joy and blessing. How can I appy it in the week to come: I need to read the Bible more, pray more, share the Lord more with my family and with others.
