Exercise Accountability-- Post your progress!!!

Recommended Posts

This thread is for anyone interested in sharing what exercise you do on a daily or weekly basis. The thought is that if you have to share what you do, you will be more likely to stick to it. We can also inspire each other with all the different types of exercises/ activities/ videos to try.

Exercise can also be a form of praise, I think-- it's almost like being grateful for the gift of being able to move!!!

Oh, maybe we could start with some goals.

I'd like to get in at least 3 30 minute workouts per week.

Have we started the accountability? I guess can start out with working out 3 times a day. One day with Leslie Sansone In Home Walking. Next time riding bike. Next time walking outside. Okay will we post our weight? For those who are just starting out. Can we also give out some recipes too. Sorry ya I didn't read the beginning of the post. I want to do 1 mile for each workout. We probably have to stretch before we workout. I will find some articles on stretching before working out.

If people would like to put their weight goals up, that's fine... no rules-- whatever you want to write to help yourself!!

I didn't have a good exercise week at all. Family came and I was just cleaning my house. I've also been eating hot dogs (because they're quick)and chocolate ice cream (because it's there) every day, so I've gained 5 lbs!!! I think this board is going to help me get back on track, though.

Well Ladies,

I walk w/ my mom 4-5 days a week, (1.5-2 miles), and I run w/ 2 of my daughters 4-6 days a week, depending on the week. I have another 5k race coming up in 3 weeks. Here is a suggestion for any one walking. How about a pedometer. It keeps track of your steps, miles you went, calories that have been burnt, and time.

Happy Saturday!

Yesterday, I did one of the Denise Austin workouts from tv that I had recorded. I didn't think it felt like much, but I woke up sore this morrning! GUess something got worked! This morning, I did about 20 minutes of another Denise Austin show. I can do these while my toddler is playing around me; yeah, I'm not using him as an excuse as to why I can't exercise anymore! I feel so much better now that I'm doing SOMETHING. I think it has helped to do it in the morning after coffee!!!

Okay I got my days down to working out Monday, Wednesday, Friday. But now I found an article that shows you how you can workout other ways too when your day has alot of obstacles in it. Like when the kids are there or if it's raining outside or you just don't feel like doing a treadmill or aerobics. It's also good to switch routines so you wont reach a plateau to soon.

Excercise Health and Fitness - Some Tips

By William Weaver

You come home from work and your children come and ask for a game of touch football, you aswered them saying that you would play with them after you get some rest from the stressful day at work. Will you go outside and play with them after you rest? Read on for some exercise health and fitness exercises so that you will have the energy to say yes to your children to play touch football or any other activity that you enjoy.

A moderate amount of exercise, about thirty minutes everyday, will give you a lot more energy and make you feel better both physically and mentally. It will also improve your appetite and help you to sleep better and get more rest. The benefits of just a small amount of exercise is amazing. It's really hard to believe that just thirty minutes a day can effect such a change in the way you feel.

If you don't do any exercises at all then start your exercising by only doing about fifteen to twenty minutes of exercises two or three days a week; building up to thirty minutes everyday. Don't push yourself too hard at first, don't force your body, if you get hurt then stop and take a break for a day or two.

Some of the exercises that you can try are:

-Walk around the playground, neighborhood park or just up and down your street. Start off slow at first and work yourself up to a fairly brisk pace.

-Play some sport that you enjoy such as basketball, soccer, football, handball, tennis, something that will give you a workout.

-You can also get a good workout just by doing yardwork like mowing the grass or raking leaves.

-If there is an exercise program where you work, look into doing that before or after work.

-Sometimes local hospitals have a gym that you can use and will suggest a workout for your physical condition.

-Doing chores around the house can also burn off some calories such as vacuuming or washing the car.

-At work, park your car as far as you can from the entrance and take the stairs instead of the elevator.

-Join a gym, one of those that's open 24/7 so you can go anytime.

-If you think about it, you can find many ways to exercise.

After exercising for a few weeks, you will be amazed at how easy it was to do it. You will find it hard not to exercise, it will get to be addicting, a good addiction for sure. So get up off of the couch and get started with some exercise health and fitness, you can do it and you will be glad that you did.

Did anyone workout today? I'm going to do In Home Walk tonight I think this will be 2 mi walk. But I have a question how many blocks is 1mi. When I do my treadmill it tells me when I'm at 1mi but when riding my bike I still not quite sure how many blocks are in 1 mi. Does anyone know? Or is there anything type of gaget that I could put on my bike that will monitor it?

Daisy, I read one of your post about eating chocolates? I think you said something you ate them because they were there? If you know you have a sweet tooth check out some low calorie chocolates until the time where you can turn away from chocolates. They taste good too. I know chocolates use to be a problem for me too. Wal-Mart carries alot of low calorie candy. Hope this helps.

THat's a really good tip, Momofateen. I do have a chocolate obsession. I have to eat it in some form everyday. I was just telling my husband to get some Healthy Choice ice cream the next time, so I wouldn't have to gain 5 lbs. :)

Hey ladies before you go and buy sugar-free, or any low calorie food, read the labels. Anything that has ----cose add to it is a form of sugar. I learned this lesson last year trying to eat that and gained more weight. I have been eating regular food but in moderation!!!! Just wanted to pass this info on to you! Happy Tuesday!!!
