Losing weight: Goal to have a baby!

Recommended Posts

Well ladies.. I am new here, but I wanted some place to speak about this issue. Especially, since it is something my husband and I arent advertising. I have been praying so hard about having a baby. Now, I want to be healthy before I get pregnant, so I already decided I wanted to lose around 75 lbs! My husband was married before and has 2 lil boys, one is 6 and the other is 8. I love them, but I didnt get to carry them, give birth to them, or even change diapers. I am longing to do these things. My husband is unsure about the idea of having a baby around, u know starting all over. I have been really sad about this, and I have been praying for a couple months. The other day, we talked about it. He saw me crying, and pouring my heart out. He is being very supportive now, but hesitant. But he said, we will pray about it for the next 9 months, and I will continue to lose my weight so I can have a healthy baby. I know he is sincere, and I am praying that maybe he finally saw my heart. He will pray, as he is such a faithful man of God, we will also pray together. I am asking u to pray also, that God may give him the desire I have, or see how much my desire is, that he decides to bless me. It is God's timing, and he said in September we will start trying. I am a teacher, so having a baby in the summer is ideal for me. That's my motivation. I can lose this weight..i have to. I have lost 6.2 lbs in the last 2 weeks, I have been waking up every day at 5:30 AM before work to run a mile, and I am eating right! I would love ur prayers, encouragements, and comments!

Thanks, Jules:o

Jules, I'm so glad that your husband has considered having a baby because becoming a mother and holding your own little one is so wonderful....and above that, I'm so glad that you are striving to become healthier. I know you can do it! Congratulations on the weight you already lost! How terrific!!!

I am from Az. I have been married for almost 9 years. We have one little girl who is 5 yrs old. I started out heavy that pregnancy, but was so sick, I lost 20 lbs in 6 months. The pregnancy was a very unhealthy one too. I delivered her at 27 weeks. I am confident the weight had nothing to do with the early delivery, however, it couldn't have helped. We want another baby so bad. The situation with our first one made us nervous to go back on the meds right away. (i had to take meds to get preggo) Now, I really don't want to take that step until I lose the weight. While the weight was not the cause last time, i don't want it to be a cause of anything next time.

Thank you for your prayers! I will continue to pray for you, and please continue to check in. We can encourage each other throughout the process. The good news for me is, I just got back home from working out, so that's a start!:p

My sister was always in the process of losing weight when she got pregnant with each of her kids - #4 is due in seven weeks. I got pregnant with our daughter after I'd lost about 30 lbs from my previous pregnancy. I'm very excited for you! I can relate to the other issue as well, and will pray with you. God answers. My husband had three children from a previous relationship and he said he didn't know if he wanted more. But, we have two blessings from God. There's nothing like having your own in addition to your "bonus" children. God bless you!

Hello Momjules and luvmyfam, I too am trying to loose weight. I was just starting to loose weight from my first pregnancy when baby number two showed up unexpectedly (but we are Thankful) and now I am trying to loose the weight I gained all over again, plus some. I decided to give up sweets this year and I know it's only been two weeks since the new year started but I haven't given in. I used to live in AZ and the weather was so nice, now I am in Massachusetts and dealing with snow for the first time and it is so difficult to get out. My husband works such long hours and we have one car and that makes it difficult too. I got a gym membership but have only been able to go once since I have to wait until he is done at work and that can sometimes be either too late for me to go or he is home at 8 pm and I can't make myself go after all that I've done that day and all I know will have to get done when I get back. I need to overcome this, and I can not wait until the weather gets better so I can take the kids on walks and go to the park like I was doing.

I thought I would add you ladies to my prayer list and you could add me. Good luck to you both. A baby is an excellent motivating goal, and keep us posted.

Hey Ladies! Thank you so much for ur encouragement. I will be praying for u also. I think ur prayers are already helping! My husband is talking about it more and making these comments about us having a girl or boy... and how if I am pregnant next year, coaching basketball wouldnt be good. Before we didnt even say the word baby. Our talk was 3 days ago...and just since yesterday he has started talking about it. I thank u so much! I know these are the reason he is opening up to this! Please keep it up! Just an update!

Well girls, I had an awful weekend (eating). Last night I had a little meltdown about it to my hubby. This is something I can't overcome in my own power, I totally need HIM to rescue me from this sin of mine. Today is a new day. His mercies begin new every morning. Today, I will start out with hope, and not discouragment. I can overcome all things through HIM who strengthens me!!!:)

I am going to lose another 20 lbs. this year. I believe setting realistic expectations of yourself are very important in overall life contentment. This past year I lost 20 lbs. and I did not even do that much except gain control of my snacking habits. This year I hope to increase my daily exercise to tone and help me lose more weight. I hope to get back down to a size 12 by this time next year. Last year at this time I wore a size 18 and weighed 195 lbs./ Now I weigh 175 lbs. and wear a size 14. I am very content with the top of my body now, but need to lose weight around my hips, butt and thighs. I am hoping an increase of working out those target areas (with a new Jillian Micheal's DVD I got) will help me in this even though I am aware of the fact that one cannot really target where they will lose weight do not want to lose weight up top (if you know what I mean, I am finally happy with that area of my body after many years=). So anyway this is my goal for 2010 concerning weight loss.

I'm just starting a series on weight loss and eating healthier on my blog on Mondays. I would love for you ladies to join me on the journey to eating healthier. I know I've taken small steps to eating healthier and it's really changed my life...and I know that God wants us to be healthy and not necessarily "skinny".

I've had to deal with thyroid problems too. I know there are lots of issues that we women face. So, I'm not here to brag in any way. I want to encourage each one of you....you can succeed in becoming healthier!

I totally loved your website! Your spice tins are great, I was just stating the other day as spices fell on my head from the cupboard above the stove (way high up) that I needed to get a spice rack to put on the wall. But your magnetic tins are a wonderful idea b/c I move around so often from apartment to apartment and we try to put as little nail damage to our "rented" walls as possible. I am so getting them!

DiamondRing,

Thanks for your comments!

When I saw those, I thought they were a marvelous creation for space savers. I really wished I had thought of such an idea myself when my husband was in Bible college and I had the tiniest kitchen there you ever did see! lol

First congrats on making the decision to become healthy before the baby. I also wanted to say if you ever want to talk I can relate. My husband and I are both on our second marriages and both had children from the first. I longed to have another child that was our own. We talked about it, knew someday it would happen but I was more in love with the idea than my husband. He knew that if God wanted us to have another child to love he would provide for us. Still after months of trying and many difficulties we resorted to a fertility specialist. Heart broken with the loss of 3 babies my husband was devastated as was I beyond anything I could have ever imagined. What I am trying to say is, God did bless us with a baby after 2 years of trying. We have our little Autumn who just turned 2. Our family has very challenging moments with our oldest being almost 18 and in between 15 and 11 yr old down to our youngest being 2. When I was pregnant my husband would joke about being in a wheelchair when our Autumn graduates high school. Starting over with a baby was an adjustment for us all but wasn't any where as hard as I had imagined. Every second of the day is a blessing from GOD!

We will pray for you! I wish you much success in losing the weight you want to, something I need to work on. Packed on about 60 lbs since starting our fertility treatments and during pregnancy that I need to lose.

Here with you!
